From the President
Dear Friends of Transylvania,
It is my great pleasure to introduce this issue of the Third & Broadway magazine, highlighting remarkable ways our alumni, students and faculty continue to create a lasting impact in our community and beyond.
At Transylvania, we’re passionate about empowering students to excel in every aspect of their lives. That’s why I’m excited about our new Bingham Center for Teaching Excellence, made possible by the Bingham Fund for Excellence in Teaching. This center is providing critical support for faculty development, boosting student success and honoring Transylvania’s proud tradition of academic excellence. The initiative underscores our commitment to excellence and ensuring students are prepared for meaningful careers.
A vibrant mural on campus has been installed in the Writing Center, spearheaded by senior Savannah Kinster. More than a visual transformation, the artwork symbolizes community and collaboration, beautifully blending art and education. The project embodies the hands-on, experiential learning central to a Transylvania education and strengthens the bonds within our campus community.
This issue also celebrates three alumni who have turned their Transylvania experiences into successful careers. Mallory Harlow Morris ’09 and Josh Morris ’09, founders of Ghost Fox Winery, demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and innovation, leveraging their education to create a wine business rooted in science and creativity. And Blake Judd ’04, an award-winning producer and director, has made significant strides in entertainment, proving how a liberal arts background provides the versatility to thrive in any field.
These stories illustrate how Transylvania University’s distinctive education shapes individuals who make meaningful contributions across diverse fields. We hope these pages inspire you and reinforce the shared connection we all share as part of the Transy community.
Thank you for your continued support of Transylvania. I look forward to all that we will achieve together in the years to come.
In Pioneer spirit,
