Individual Academic Coaching

Academic coaching provides students with a consistent, one-on-one partnership, where they can improve their academic strategies and habits and get help managing their school/life balance.

Academic life at Transylvania can be challenging. Classes move quickly and require more intellectual independence; the strategies that worked in high school often won’t in college. Our academic coaches will work with students on ways to study smarter, not harder. Time management, reading strategies, and managing test anxiety are just a few of the topics we regularly discuss with students.

Think of an academic coach like a personal trainer – the coach is adjusting the workouts, supporting you, and providing guidance to help you achieve your goals. The academic coach is here to help you strengthen your learning fitness.

This is a free service available to all students wanting to improve their habits.

Academic challenges and mental health concerns often go hand-in-hand. While it is helpful to talk through concerns, academic coaches are not therapists. We will refer students to the Counseling Center to address underlying mental health concerns.

For more information on therapy and counseling services, please contact Counseling Services at counseling@transy.edu or (859) 281-3682.
