Transylvania is about to go into shutdown mode for more than a week to not only save energy but also give the school community a well deserved break.
Transylvania University’s campus will be closed for winter break beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, with regular office hours resuming Tuesday, Jan. 2.
Transylvania University’s campus will be closed for winter break beginning Dec. 22, with offices reopening on Jan. 3, 2023.
With the shift from some in-person classes to all remote learning after Thanksgiving break, Transylvania is beginning its winter shutdown early this year — after the end of the business day Nov. 24.
Transylvania’s winter shutdowns — which involve the closure of most offices until after New Year’s Day — have saved the university nearly a half-million dollars on utility bills since they began eight years ago.
