A special picnic-themed meal will be served in the Rafskeller prior to the show. The menu features made-from-scratch entrees and sides, much of which is sourced from within 150 miles of the downtown Lexington campus. “The feature menu will be fried chicken, cider braised pulled pork with smoked chili vinegar sauce, green apple and mustard seed slaw, green beans with crushed salt and vinegar chips, smashed buttermilk potatoes with scallion, red peppers and parsley, spice-rubbed corn on the cob, black-eyed pea salad with cucumber, tomato, vinegar and herbs, and farro and tomato salad with crispy capers,” said Chris Harris, Bon Appétit’s general manager at Transylvania. Vegetarian options also include pizza, pasta and a salad bar. And dessert? It’s fit for a picnic: “Berry buckle, fudge brownies and banana pudding,” Harris shared. Transy Theater and Bon Appétit are planning similar special menus for upcoming performances of “The Vox Show” and “Fun Home.” Dinner is served from 4:30-7 p.m. on Saturday before the performance, which begins at 7:30 p.m. The meal is available for $9.
