If you’re looking for world-class musical entertainment with an Irish flair for St. Patrick’s Day — you’re in luck.
Transylvania’s Mitchell Fine Arts is hosting two performances influenced by the culture of the Emerald Isle.
On the holiday itself Monday, the band Scythian promises the “craziest St. Patrick’s Day bash” with its Celtic, Appalachian and Eastern European roots music. A cross between a rock concert and barn dance, the 7 p.m. performance will showcase the group’s “thunderous energy, technical prowess and storytelling songwriting.”
Scythian is well-known internationally, especially on the Irish festival circuit. Nashville’s Music City Roots says they are ‘what happens when rock star charisma meets Celtic dervish fiddling.’”

The show is presented by the Lexington St. Patrick’s Parade and Festival, which is the city’s longest-running civic event and part of this year’s 250Lex celebration of its 1775 founding.
On Saturday, A Taste of Ireland — The Irish Music & Dance Sensation takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. The show features renowned performers from the Lord of the Dance and Riverdance along with World Irish Dance champions.
“A Taste of Ireland transports the audience through the story of Ireland’s tumultuous history delivered with a pint of Irish wit,” according to the off-Broadway troupe. “Watch world-class performers blend melodic folk mash-ups, live jaw-dropping a capella tap battles and heartwarming story telling.”
