Transylvania partners with local innovation hub for Startup Weekend Lexington

students in a pitch competition

Transylvania University’s Center for Entrepreneurship is partnering with Awesome Inc for Startup Weekend Lexington from April 4-6.

Students will come up with a startup idea, pitch it, get advice from mentors and then present it before judges at the annual event.

Transylvania will pay the entry fee of any Pioneer who would like to take part — they should email rquery@transy.edu by Feb. 24 if they’re interested.

“The Center for Entrepreneurship is thrilled to continue growing our partnership with Awesome Inc,” interim Director Kaelyn Query said. “We’ve teamed up to make access to this event accessible for all Transylvania students, and to get them excited about entrepreneurship, business ownership and business management.”

Located in the newly renovated Sanders-Siebers Entrepreneurship Hub, the center promotes innovation and creativity for students of any major as they develop valuable entrepreneurial skills for a variety of careers. It has been sponsoring pitch competitions, networking, classroom discussions, field trips, the annual Makers Market and more since 2022.

Query stressed how the upcoming Startup Weekend Lexington at Awesome Inc (348 E. Main St.) is a good chance to hone practical skills.

“No matter their level of knowledge or experience in business, we know this opportunity provides a unique hands-on experience unlike any other opportunity to dig into the real work and network with those who are already out in the field doing the same.”
