Popular Los Angeles magician Joseph Tran kicks off Transylvania University’s PumpkinMania Festival presented by UK Federal Credit Union with a show that promises to make boredom disappear.
Get tickets to the night of magic and comedy Oct. 25 at 7 in Haggin Auditorium. The event is also part of the Mitchell Fine Arts full professional performing arts season.
“This upcoming show features some of my favorite magic and mind reading from my headline theater show, as well as brand new miracles that I created just for the Transylvania University community,” Tran said. “So even if you think you’ve seen it all on your TikTok and Instagram before, I promise a night of new surprises, lots of laughs and a ton of fun.”
Tran is a regular performing member of the Magic Castle and a consultant for TV and film.
“Joseph Tran has lived a pretty colorful life,” according to his bio. “He’s been a stuntman and an actor who has appeared on film, TV and video games speaking multiple languages, and he travels all over the world with his magic, all while being an introvert and having stage fright.” His shows “combine self-deprecating humor, outrageous stories of his journey from poor kid in Hollywood to less-poor magician in Hollywood, and incredible magic.”
Tran’s show for the PumpkinMania Festival will be followed the next afternoon by a SPOOKTACULAR Halloween Concert featuring the school’s choirs, band and orchestra — along with the Scott County and Great Crossing high school choirs at 2:30 in Haggin.
Then, on Sunday, Oct. 27, the public is invited to a community pumpkin carving with food trucks from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Old Morrison Lawn. These 500 jack-o’-lanterns will make up the 14th annual display, which will be lit each night through Halloween. Reserve carving tickets.
