The Lexington community is invited to Transylvania University’s campus Friday and Saturday to see first hand the positive impact higher education is having on the city.
The 250LEX College Town Showcase includes tours, sports events and cultural offerings like the Judy Gaines Young Book Award ceremony, Special Collections tours and a senior art exhibition. Other local schools are participating in the showcase as well.
Check out the new interactive map for self-guided tours of Transylvania.
“We’re incredibly proud to partner with 250LEX, UK and BCTC to showcase the educational opportunities available in Lexington,” President Brien Lewis said. “We welcome visitors to our campus to witness not only our history, but our commitment to fostering the next generation of leaders and innovators, building upon our long legacy of academic excellence and community engagement.”
March is Education Month during this year’s 250th anniversary celebration.
Transylvania also participated in the 250Lex Basketball Week in January.
Next month, the Transylvania chamber orchestra performs in the “Dawning of Music in Kentucky” concert in the Lexington Central Library’s Farish Theater. The show, which is Sunday, April 6, at 3 p.m., features music of Anthony Philip Heinrich, one of the first full-time professional composers in the United States.
Also for the 250th celebration, Transylvania hosts an Entrepreneurial Showdown sponsored by Toyota Kentucky on April 16 at 4 p.m. in the Campus Center. Reserve tickets.
