Transylvania to hold classes virtually Monday because of winter storm

Due to the winter weather situation on campus and throughout the area, all Transylvania University classes will be held virtually tomorrow, Monday, Jan. 6. Students are asked to monitor their email for communication from faculty regarding their classes.

Please exercise caution around campus, as facilities crews will be working diligently to clear parking lots and sidewalks. However, we anticipate that some areas may not be fully cleared until after the storm passes Monday afternoon.

The Great Hall will open Monday at 10 a.m. with as many stations as possible — Bon Appétit will expand offerings as staff members safely arrive on campus. Gratz Perk will be closed for the day.

Employees who can work remotely are asked to do so. Essential personnel should report as scheduled. Employees should check with their supervisors for any adjustments to their schedules that may be necessary due to weather conditions.

Student-athletes should check with their coaches regarding practice schedules. The Fitness Center will be closed during the scheduled 7-9 a.m. session, with staff evaluating during the day if they are able to open for later sessions. In-person, on-campus events will be canceled or moved to virtual meetings by the organizers.

Any updates to this status will be communicated via campus message, social media, Inside Transy and the transy.edu website. More details at transy.edu/alerts.
