The public is invited to swing by Transylvania University’s Old Morrison Circle through Halloween night to check out this year’s PumpkinMania display of more than 500 jack-o’-lanterns.
Media outlets around the country have spotlighted the 14th annual event presented by UK Federal Credit Union. ABC’s Localish network reports how “no school can put together such a monster display quite like Transylvania University.”
New this year, Transylvania added a magic show with Hollywood magician Joseph Tran, a SPOOKTACULAR Halloween Concert and scary theater production.
Lexington outlets have been promoting PumpkinMania this past week as well. For instance, FOX 56 urged people to come out to see the “remarkable” display either during the day or at night when it’s aglow.
Reporter Tyler Melito explained what it’s like having such a long-standing Halloween tradition. “People who were there for the first ones now come back with maybe their kids, or students who were short little kids who lived in Lexington now come back and are students here — and they get to take all these pumpkins in.”
The Lexington community turned out to campus Sunday for pumpkin carving, food trucks and other fun activities.
The jack-o’-lanterns will be collected as feed for local livestock Friday morning.
But before then, it’s a fitting background to pose in your Halloween costume — or if you’re our men’s basketball team.
