Transylvania provides move-in day pack list for new school year

As Transylvania University students head to campus in the next few weeks, they’ve got a handy list of what to bring and what to leave at home.

Packing smartly will especially help new students settle into college life by cutting down on distractions during their first few weeks — so they don’t have to worry about scrambling for sunscreen or containers to store leftover food, for instance.

In general, though, residential students should err on the side of not bringing too much stuff with them. And they should talk with their roommates before arriving to reduce the chances of redundant items such as two microwaves.

Transylvania’s incoming Class of 2028 moves onto campus Aug. 23, followed by First Engagements orientation from Aug. 24-29. Returning students arrive Sept. 1-2, and fall classes start Sept. 3. Get the latest info on housing and dining.
