Winter isn’t just for hibernating.
Transylvania University encourages students to venture out to the Campus Center on Wednesday for Second Engagements: A Night of Connection and Celebration. They’ll learn about campus organizations and resources that will help them get the most out of winter term.
The event, which is from 5-7 p.m., includes both a fair for students to explore what the school’s organizations have to offer and a showcase where groups host a variety of activities — from PowerPoint presentations on their missions to a pico de gallo-making workshop hosted by the Latino Student Alliance.
Pioneers will also learn about academic resources and chat with staff from various offices.
Corinne O’Bryan, assistant director of student success, said the event fosters a sense of belonging for students. “Second Engagements is an opportunity for them to take a second look and potentially discover an organization they hadn’t had the chance to yet,” she said.
Other activities include Jackbox video games, crafts and dining in the Raf with board games and puzzles.
“We’ve opened up some other spaces just to encourage students to hang out, talk to each other and connect with their campus community,” O’Bryan added.
