Transylvania University’s talented student musicians will perform six free concerts through Dec. 8, capping off with a 40-year holiday tradition.
“You’ll have plenty of chances to hear Transylvania’s capable musicians over the next few weeks,” professor Ben Hawkins said. “We’ll have something for everyone.”
The musical cavalcade kicks off Tuesday, Nov. 28, with the first of four General Student Recitals at 12:30 p.m. in Carrick Theater. Then that night at 7, the Jazz Ensemble takes the stage for their Fall Concert.
Next up are three more General Student Recitals — Nov. 30 at 12:30 p.m., Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 7 at 12:30, all in Carrick.
On Dec. 8, the Transylvania musical community comes together for the annual Gift of Music concert at 7 p.m. in Haggin Auditorium. Donations to God’s Pantry will be collected during the event via QR code.
“Our Gift of Music concert is a great way to get into the holiday spirit,” Hawkins said. “The band, choirs and chamber orchestra will offer a wide variety of music connected to Christmas and Hanukkah, including carols for an audience sing-along.”
