Transylvania University invites alumni back to campus Friday through Sunday for a variety of fun and engaging events.
At this year’s Alumni Weekend — themed “Connected by Crimson” — Pioneers will rediscover connections from their days at Transy and make some new ones. Register today, and get more info.
“We are thrilled to welcome back alumni from 25 states, as well as Mexico, and show off our beautiful campus,” said Natasa Pajic Mongiardo ’96. “There will be lots of opportunities for connecting with classmates, friends and former faculty.”
Mongiardo pointed out several new events this year, including a premium Keeneland tailgate, a celebration of retiring art professor Jack Girard and sale of his works to benefit a scholarship, a Transylvania Showcase featuring educational sessions, and an inaugural brunch of the Transylvania Black Alumni Society.
Some other events on tap are a TGIF Kick-Off Party at West Sixth Brewing, campus tours, a panel discussion with outstanding alumni, Greek Open House, class reunions and Sunday chapel service.
Plus, Transylvania will honor alumni achievements Saturday from 11 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. in Carrick Theater. “We will recognize a stellar group of individuals at the annual Alumni Celebration Convocation,” Mongiardo said.
This year’s honorees include Morrison Medallion winner Carol Ann Goff Tanner ’64 and Outstanding Young Alumni Award recipient D. Chanslor Gallenstein ’16. Those recognized for distinguished achievement are Amy Collignon Gunn ’93, Hayden Travis Mauk ’98, Ana C. Reyes ’96, Elizabeth “Lizi” C. Ruch ’73, Jill A. Stratton ’91 and Thomas Jeffrey Vasseur ’83. Additionally, this year’s Distinguished Service Awards go to Carolyn Hilterbran Henry ’73, J. Steven Henry ’73, Dustin E. Meek ’88 and Linda Campbell Tipton ’88.
