In just one week, the Office of Alumni and Development will hold its annual day of giving, and Pioneers across the world will be called to come Together for Transy on Tuesday, March 21.
You can get involved by taking part in one of the university’s unique giving challenges, tailored to fit a wide variety of availability and interests. From Pioneer Pair challenges to opportunities to give no matter where in the world you are located, Together for Transy is a chance to display your Pioneer pride and contribute to today’s student experience.
The day of giving will kick off with the Night Owl giveaway. Beginning as the clock strikes midnight on March 21, the first five people who donate $5 or more will receive a fun Transy prize.
If you’re an early bird, however, don’t despair — more Transy swag will be available throughout the day.
Based on the time of your donation, you could be entered for the chance to win a Forrer brick (8-9 a.m.) or letter jacket (10 a.m.-noon). All donors who make gifts of $50 or more between 7-10 p.m. will receive a copy of a vintage Old Morrison print.
And a returning fan favorite, the Heart and Sole challenge, which kicks off at 2 p.m., will send an exclusive pair of Transylvania socks to the first 200 donors who make a gift of $25 or more to either the Transylvania Fund or the Scholarship Fund.
If you’re screen bound during business hours, you can share your love for Transy with your social network and give back to your alma mater with the #SharingIsCaring challenge. Between 7 a.m.-noon, Vice President for Marketing and Communications Megan Moloney will donate $3 for every social media share of the #SharingIsCaring post, up to $1,000, in honor of her aunt Rose Moloney Lucas ’61. Eligible posts will be made on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages.
Members of the Barr Society can give early as part of the “Raise the Barr for Transy” challenge, which is going on now through March 21. Sponsored by Virginia Bell ’44 and a member of the class of 1964, these donors will make a dollar-for-dollar match up to $20,000 for any gifts made as part of this challenge.
If you’re a Pioneer who has settled outside the Commonwealth, be sure your new home is represented in the “On the Map” challenge. Once again, an anonymous donor will contribute $500 for every state where a gift is made, so whether you are far from home or down the street, your donation can be amplified.
West Coast alumni can also end the day strong with the Coast to Coast challenge. The first 100 gifts of $10 or more made between 11 p.m-3 a.m. will be eligible to receive a set of Transy car coasters.
