Tonight’s fashion show in the Transylvania library will not only highlight free clothing available through the university’s Career Closet, but it’ll also provide tips on what to wear to professional interviews — and what to leave in the closet … as some faculty models will demonstrate.
FOX 56 came out yesterday to preview the inaugural Curate Your Career Collection show, focusing on how the community can drop off items for students looking to dress for success. Door prizes will be given away at the 6:30 p.m. event, which will also include student and staff models. The library will give away some career-related supplies as well.
Tracy Dunn, assistant dean for academic affairs, said the Career Closet could use suits, dresses and accessories like jewelry, dress socks, ties and briefcases. Just today, a community member dropped off purses and necklaces. Get more info in the news story.
The clothing resource is part of Transylvania’s Center for Academic and Professional Enrichment. Students can drop by Old Morrison 107 whenever they’d like, try some pieces on and keep whatever they need. “Students said the best part is seeing popular brands and clothes with tags,” FOX 56 said.
Having an option to get professional clothes for free “changes the game for me and a lot of other students,” Transylvania senior Shalomel Jatau said. “I needed a blazer, and I got a really nice one.”
