In a preview of next spring’s NCAA Championship, Transylvania University Athletics hosted 17 of the nation’s top DIII men’s golf teams earlier this month at Keene Trace Golf Club in nearby Nicholasville.
Head coach Brian Lane addressed the golfers gathered at the manicured course on a chilly morning during the tournament, highlighting what it means to be a coach and what they go through to be there for each of their players. At the end, he asked for a moment of silence to honor two late DIII golf coaches, Raymond “Bim” Jollymour of Claremont Mudd Scripps and David Jones of Centre.
Both the 2023 Division III Men’s Golf National Championship (May 16-19) and 2024 NCAA Division III Women’s Golf National Championship will be at Keene Trace, also the site of the PGA Tour’s Barbasol Championship each July.
Transylvania hosted the men’s championship three years ago.
“The 2019 championship was a big-time weeklong event that brought some impressive teams from all over the country to the Bluegrass,” coach Lane said. “I am excited we get the chance to showcase Keene Trace Golf Club again.”
