Transylvania University resumes a longtime tradition Friday with “A Gift of Holiday Music Concert” at 7 p.m. in Haggin Auditorium.
Involving almost all students in the music program — the Transylvania Singers, Choir, Concert Band and Chamber Orchestra — the performance will include a variety of favorite holiday pieces, and the audience is invited to sing along to carols.
The concert, which the school has presented for three decades, is free and open to the public. In the spirit of the holidays, nonperishable food donations will be accepted for God’s Pantry.
The program is sure to get concert goers in a festive mood with well-loved music like Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride” and “Joy to the World.”
“Everyone in the music program is so happy to have the chance to be performing again,” said professor Ben Hawkins, music director of instrumental ensembles. “We look forward to making joyous holiday music for everyone.”
