Caroline Randall Williams wrapped up Transylvania University’s 2020-21 Creative Intelligence series Wednesday night with a moving reading and discussion on this academic year’s theme of “Justice.”
“I was invited here because of an article I wrote about my discomforting history. I wrote it really as a call that wants a response. It’s part of a conversation,” she said before reading an opinion piece she wrote for the New York Times.
“This whole conversation about justice in this moment: it comes down to the predicament of what to do when what’s written into law and what’s truly just are two different things,” Williams said.
Williams, who is a writer in residence at Vanderbilt University, is the author of “Lucy Negro, Redux” and “Soul Food Love.”
