Transylvania University President Brien Lewis and Vice President for Admissions Johnnie Johnson released the following statements on the passing of Fayette County Public Schools Superintendent Emmanuel “Manny” Caulk.
Statement from Brien Lewis
The Transylvania University community shares its sincerest condolences with the family, friends and colleagues of Fayette County Public Schools Superintendent Emmanuel “Manny” Caulk.
I had the opportunity to have a long conversation with Manny earlier this year following my arrival in Lexington. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him and to better understand the important role he played in leading our school system. Nearly a quarter of our first-year class each fall comes to us from Lexington’s high schools, so we know the impact Manny had on educating those in our community. We will honor his work and memory by continuing our valued partnership with the Fayette County Public Schools.
Statement from Johnnie Johnson
As a fellow education professional and member of the same fraternity, Manny’s passing affects me on multiple levels. He was an educational partner, a brother and a strong influencer in the futures of young people across the city. He will definitely be missed.
