Transylvania sport camps have been an important part of Transylvania for decades. We look forward each summer to welcoming our local high schools, students and the greater community on campus.
Given guidance from the governor, in combination with the decision of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) to extend its dead period* for sports activities, Transylvania University will be canceling its June summer camps.
We want to ensure that when we are able to open our spaces on campus, we can implement appropriate precautions in concert with public health directives and be approved by Kentucky public health officials.
We will be evaluating in the days and weeks ahead if July camps can move forward. Camp directors will be contacting campers with additional details. Updates will be also be provided on Transysports.com.
*All sports and sport activities, regardless of season, are declared to be in a coronavirus dead period, congruent but not identical, with the provisions of Bylaw 24. These restrictions apply to all rostered KHSAA coaches (middle or high school, all levels, paid or unpaid), all rostered athletes at all levels (middle and high school), or those that have participated in at least one practice session with a KHSAA member school. Specifics of this dead period can be found on KHSAA.org.
