The Transylvania Choir recently went caroling from office to office across campus to help the university get into the holiday spirit and preview an upcoming holiday concert.
The singers are learning to sight-read music for the winter season — four-part harmony carols to be exact.
“We decided that we wanted to spread some cheer on campus, so we were a merry band of roving singers last Friday,” said Regan MacNay, an assistant professor of music at Transylvania University and director of choral activities.
The ensemble, which is pictured caroling in the Office of Marketing and Communications, will perform with other campus groups in the Gift of Holiday Music Concert on Friday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. in Haggin Auditorium.
But first they’ll bring Christmas cheer to Liberty Ridge Senior Living on Dec. 2. “It is our way of giving something to the community while improving music reading skills,” MacNay said.
