Dr. John N. Williams ’74 began serving as interim president of Transylvania University on Thursday, Aug. 15. He shared the following message with the Transylvania community:
On my first day in the position of interim president, I am delighted to introduce myself. My wife, Lucy Sims Williams ’74, and I are excited to be back in Lexington to serve our beloved alma mater this coming year. Transylvania is a special place, as we both have had several family members as graduates since the 1940s extending to the early 2000s. We were both actively involved on campus as students and intend to embrace the many facets of Transylvania life this coming year.
We are settling into our new home and finding many impressive and inspiring changes within the greater Lexington community. We look forward to meeting alumni, faculty and staff colleagues as well as our returning and new students. I see on my schedule there are many first-year orientation events which we look forward to attending.
This is a year of transition as Transy will search for new presidential leadership. I invite all members of the Transylvania community to be actively involved in this important process.
I welcome your thoughts and suggestions to make Transy an even more vibrant academic community in the years ahead.
We are very excited to be here and look forward to a productive year.
