Even though it’s only July, pumpkins are a hot topic of conversation at Transylvania University.
Preparations for this fall’s ninth annual PumpkinMania include sourcing hundreds of locally grown gourds from Overman’s Bluegrass Fruits and Vegetables in Lancaster, Kentucky.
These future jack-o’-lanterns will light the steps of the school’s historic Old Morrison administration building for the event on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
In addition to the lighting, PumpkinMania will feature trick-or-treating, music, food trucks and more. The event draws thousands of visitors to campus each year for what has become a Lexington Halloween tradition.
This year’s community carving will be Sunday, Oct. 27, from noon to 4 p.m. — coinciding with our Fall Festival, hosted by the Transylvania Young Alumni Council.
