The stage is built, and crimson banners hang between the columns of Transylvania University’s iconic Old Morrison administration building for this year’s commencement ceremony.
The university will celebrate 229 of its graduating seniors as they embark on their new lives beginning Saturday morning at 9 on Old Morrison’s lawn.
If you can’t make it to commencement, watch a livestream on the university’s main Facebook page.
Also follow the day’s events—and post your own photos and videos of the graduates—with #TransyGrad on social media.
See the full schedule for this year’s ceremony, which, if it rains, will be in the Clive M. Beck Center. Also in case of inclement weather, limited seating will be available in Carrick Theater to watch the livestream.
The event will include an address by Deogratias “Deo” Niyizonkiza, a leading advocate for the world’s most impoverished people and founder and CEO of Village Health Works in Burundi. Presli Neal, a first-generation college student and neuroscience major from Lexington, will give the senior speech.
The day will kick off with a Commencement Day Breakfast in The Rafskeller from 7-8 a.m. Seniors will then gather for a photo on the Beck Center steps.
Following the commencement ceremony, graduates will join well-wishers for a reception in Alumni Plaza.
No tickets are required for commencement, unless it rains. Graduating students are receiving six rain tickets.
As for parking, spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Check out the commencement parking map.
