This May, Transylvania University will host the NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship at the Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville. The four-round event is May 14-17.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for Transylvania University and central Kentucky,” said Vice President for Enrollment and Student Life Holly Sheilley when the site selection was announced. “It is an honor to be considered and selected by the NCAA to host this prestigious event, and we now look forward to the rewarding process of preparing to bring a championship event to Lexington and Nicholasville.”
In order to make the championships happen, Transy Athletics is looking for more than 100 volunteers over the course of the week-long event. Volunteer positions include: shuttle drivers, hospitality runners, leaderboard operators and updaters, live score input, parking attendants, registration, merchandise sales, spotters, starters, etc.
Volunteer shifts are four hours beginning with setup on Sunday, May 12, through the end of the championship on May 17. To volunteer, go here to complete a Google form with your availability.
The Transylvania men’s golf program is a frequent competitor in the national golf championship tournament. As 12-time reigning champions of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, the Pioneers are seeking their 13th consecutive trip to the national championships in 2019.
Home of the PGA Barbasol Championship, the Keene Trace courses have hosted multiple professional, amateur college and open competitions, including previous NCAA championships. The golf club features two 18-hole courses in Champion Trace and Keene Run.
