Transylvania University has named Lexington Catholic High School President Steve Angelucci as the institution’s vice president for campaign initiatives, beginning later this summer.
In this new role, Angelucci will work closely with President Seamus Carey and the university’s advancement office to coordinate major fundraising efforts. Under his 10-year leadership at Lexington Catholic, the school experienced unprecedented growth in enrollment and fundraising. Most recently, Angelucci steered the school’s ongoing capital campaign to support a planned campus renovation.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Angelucci to the Transylvania community. His experience and professionalism will add enormously to Transy’s success as a premier liberal arts institution,” said President Carey.
A longtime Lexingtonian, Angelucci has an extensive background not only in education, but also in a variety of fields including athletics, marketing, fundraising and dentistry. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky, a master’s degree in sports administration from Ohio University and a doctorate of medical dentistry from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.
Prior to his time at Lexington Catholic High School, Angelucci enjoyed a successful 20-year career in intercollegiate athletics. He served as senior associate athletic director for external operations at the University of Central Florida, vice president for Host Communications as manager of the University of Kentucky’s multimedia rights and senior vice president for operations and new business development at ISP Sports (now IMG College).
Among the first projects Angelucci will focus on is the university’s new Campus Center, which begins construction this month. Transy is re-visioning the core of campus life with a new facility that is scheduled to open in fall 2020. The new, $29.6 million campus center, which is being funded through private gifts, will offer areas for student organizations, fitness, student services, dining and outreach to the community.
“I am honored to join Dr. Carey’s team at Transylvania, and so fortunate to leave a great institution at Lexington Catholic to join another historically great school,” Angelucci said. “I look forward to being part of the energy and excitement you feel when you walk on the campus.”
