Family members of Transylvania University students are invited to campus later this month for a wide range of activities—including classroom visits, a concert and sporting events.
Visitors at this year’s Family Weekend from Oct. 25-28 also will take part in two of this fall’s biggest events. On Friday, Oct. 26, the university will host a watch party in Alumni Plaza for our exhibition game against the University of Kentucky’s men’s basketball team. Then on Sunday, Oct. 28, families are invited to join the Transylvania community and public for our PumpkinMania jack-o’-lantern carving in Back Circle. Later that evening, they can take a short walk downtown to watch the Lexington Thriller Parade, which for the first time will include a PumpkinMania float.
Other Family Weekend events will include a chance for siblings of students to spend the night on campus and then attend class the next day. Family members also can drop by our Center for Academic and Professional Enrichment for a resume review session, and join President Seamus Carey, faculty and staff for a brunch and open house.
Families also will cheer on Pioneer athletes at men’s and women’s soccer matchups against Rose-Hulman and at a volleyball game against Manchester. A band and orchestra concert is on tap as well.
Family Weekend is a way for Transylvania to thank those who have entrusted the university with their children’s education—and a chance for families to spend time together. Also during these four days, parents can get to know members of the university community and learn more about what makes Transylvania exceptional.
