The sociology program at Transylvania places particular emphases on the study of social problems, social justice, population, and social change processes, as well as critical engagement with inequalities along lines of race, gender, socioeconomic class, and other axes of power and inequality that exist in contemporary society. We encourage both historical and future-oriented appreciation of the development of knowledge about contemporary society, so that students become conversant in how modern society has evolved and also understand trends that will shape their lives and those of a global society.
Transylvania also offers a major in sociology/anthropology.
