The music department awards four-year scholarships based on students’ talents, academics, and musicianship. We encourage accomplished high school seniors who have been accepted to Transylvania to audition, regardless of intended major. Scholarships are designed for any student who wishes to take applied music lessons in college and participate in a vocal or instrumental ensemble.
Awards range from $10,000 to $20,000 ($2,500 to $5,000 per year) and are automatically renewed as long as the student completes four semesters of applied lessons and participates in an ensemble for eight semesters. Auditions will be considered in the assessment of overall aid qualifications by the offices of admissions and financial aid.
Performance applicants should prepare two short, contrasting selections of the applicant’s choosing and schedule an interview with the music faculty. Theory and composition applicants should submit scores and/or recordings prior to their interviews. Taped auditions are acceptable under approved circumstances.
During Fine Arts Audition Days, applicants and their families will have the opportunity to take a campus tour, eat lunch with faculty, sit in on a faculty showcase concert, and attend a session on scholarships and financial aid. Our goal is to give you a holistic experience during your visit.
You may schedule an audition on one of these dates:
If you are unable to audition on one of the above dates or have questions about the audition process, please contact music program director Ben Hawkins (859) 233-8259, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Transylvania University admits students regardless of age, race, color, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, national origin, or any other classification protected by federal or state law or local ordinance.
