Pollard stepping down as vice president and dean of the college

At press time, President R. Owen Williams announced that William F. Pollard, vice president and dean of the college and professor of English, is stepping down as vice president and dean of the college, effective July 31, 2012. After a one-year sabbatical, he will return to teaching as professor of English on the Transylvania faculty.
Pollard came to Transylvania in 2004. His Ph.D. is from Duke University, and he did post-doctoral study at the University of Oxford. His areas of scholarship are English, medieval English literature, and medieval theology.
Williams also appointed Associate Vice President and Dean of the College Kathleen Jagger interim vice president and dean of the college, effective August 1, 2012. She joined the faculty in 2002 as professor of biology.
