In our Transylvania community we celebrate the richness that comes from a range of all our individual differences, including dimensions of age, culture, education, ethnicity, exceptionalities, gender, geographical origin, language, politics, race, religion, sexual orientation and socioeconomic status.

“I’m a Mexican American, first generation college student. When you get to Transylvania, you have people you can count on. They’re here for you.”

“My dream job is to be a psychologist and give back to my community.”

The administration and students at Transylvania are committed to strengthening diversity on our campus.

There was a lot of excitement at the beginning of the school year when we welcomed the largest group of international students in a new class that Transylvania has ever seen. I’ve enjoyed the chance to chat with many of these students of differing ethnicities and backgrounds.

I’m also involved in the Diversity Action Council, which helps educate everyone on various cultures, religions, sexual orientations, socioeconomic backgrounds and disabilities.”

“It’s such a supportive community here. It’s not always about textbook knowledge, but it’s about learning to communicate with people from so many different backgrounds. You begin to understand the views of people from different disciplines and perspectives, and I’ve really enjoyed that.”
