Career Development Staff

Susan Rayer, Director 

Susan is a native West Virginian, but has been a Lexington resident for many years. She received an undergraduate degree in marketing and an M.B.A. from Marshall University in Huntington, W. Va., and has a strong background in professional development. Susan maintains relationships with many companies and organizations throughout Lexington and the Bluegrass region.

Susan is a resource for networking and job searching, and she coordinates the internship program.

Michael Cronk, Assistant Director

Michael began his career at Transylvania in 2003 after working as a counselor at Augusta State University in Georgia. Michael has a master's degree in college counseling from SUNY Plattsburgh and is a National Certified Counselor. His undergraduate degree in philosophy and economics is from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., where he was Phi Beta Kappa and inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Society.

Michael offers help with career counseling, résumé reviews, interviewing skills, and graduate school applications.


Mike Nichols, Career Counselor

A Transy alum, Dr. Mike Nichols teaches in the Department of Psychology and is Assistant to the Dean of the College. He works part-time in the Career Development Center helping students and alums learn about themselves and their interests, values, skills, and personality as well as the world of work. A licensed psychologist, Dr. Nichols has taught for 41 years and is a former university counseling center director and hospital psychologist. He feels blessed to be working at his Alma Mater with Transy's  wonderful students.

Mike offers help with career counseling and interprets career assessments.

 Jill Warfield, Office Manager

 

Jill is a Florida native who relocated to Scott County over fifteen years ago. She is nearing completion of her B.A. in Psychology with special emphasis in Counseling and Crisis Intervention. Jill has extensive experience with non-profit organizations, especially in the areas of international and domestic adoption/orphan care.  She currently volunteers as an adoption advocate and mentor for families in the adoption process.

Jill will provide assistance to ensure students obtain all available resources offered through the Career Development Center. Contact her or stop into the office to set up an appointment with Susan, Michael, or Dr. Nichols
