Kenan Lecture with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., environmental business leader and advocate, will present "Green Capitalism." Kennedy is a professor of environmental law at Pace University School of Law and serves as co-director of the school's Environmental Litigation Clinic. He also serves as president of Waterkeeper Alliance, senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council, chief prosecuting attorney for the Hudson Riverkeeper, and co-host of the radio show, Ring of Fire. He is a partner on the CleanTech investment team of Silicon Valley's VantagePoint Capital Ventures, the environmental advisor to Napo Pharmaceuticals, and serves on numerous boards. Earlier in his career, he served as assistant district attorney in New York City.

Kenan Lecture with Eric Klein
Eric Klein, founder and CEO of the the disaster relief organization CAN-DO, will describe his unique approach to humanitarian aid, which includes hiring locals and employing U.S. military veterans. Klein has been featured on CNN, CNBC, People Magazine, Huffington Post, among other national and local media outlets. In 2008, Oprah Winfrey chose Klein as a contestant for her ABC prime time show, "Oprah's Big Give," a reality program that challenged contestants to give away money in unique ways and become one of America's greatest unknown philanthropists.

Kenan Lecture: Michele Norris
Michele Norris is a host and special correspondent for National Public Radio and previously was co-host of All Things Considered, public radio’s longest-running national program. In 2012 she developed The Race Card Project, an initiative to foster a wider conversation about race in America. Her book, The Grace of Silence: A Memoir, focuses on how America talks about race in the wake of Barack Obama’s presidential election and explores her own family’s racial legacy. A reception and book signing will immediately follow the presentation. This lecture is part of our year-long program Still Overcoming: Striving for Inclusiveness and is free and open to the public. This fall's Kenan lecturer, philosopher and public intellectual Kwame Anthony Appiah, will deliver his lecture Oct. 20. The philosophy program, in connection with the office of the vice president for academic affairs, would like to invite faculty and staff to participate in a book discussion. Dean Pollard's office is securing 20 copies of "Cosmopolitanism: Ethics in a World of Strangers," which will be distributed for free to the first 10 staff and 10 faculty to sign on to participate in a discussion. Carroll is professor of molecular biology and genetics at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and the author of several books, notably, "Into the Jungle: Epic Adventures in the Search for Evolution," "The Making of the Fittest," and "Endless Forms Most Beautiful: The New Science of Evo Devo."
