Ben Sollee concert

8:30 p.m.
Location: Haggin Auditorium

TUSGA Activities Board is bringing Lexington native Ben Sollee to Transylvania for the concert of 2014. Sollee is a cellist, singer-songwriter, and composer known for his innovative playing style, genre-bending songwriting, electrifying performances, political activism, and wide appeal. His music incorporates banjo, guitar, and mandolin along with percussion and unusual cello techniques to create a unique sound. His songs exhibit a mix of folk, bluegrass, jazz, and R&B elements. Deficit Day to Bankrupt Day

If deficit spending continues as it has, the U.S. will default on its debt within a decade. Join Antony Davies as he explains the magnitude of the debt problem, commonly proposed solutions, and what effects we could expect from a federal default. Davies is an entertaining speaker and writer on a variety of economic topics ranging from the more serious (taxes and debt) to the not so serious (surviving a zombie apocalypse).

Kevin Kling, a playwright and storyteller known for his popular commentaries on National Public Radio's "All Things Considered," delivers his one-man performance "Breakin' Hearts and Takin' Names." $10 for general admission; $5 for Transylvania University faculty, staff, and students.

The Transylvania University chapter of Phi Delta Epsilon will host a Bioethics Panel, which will include Kathleen Jagger and Jack Furlong, and students Alex Schmitt, Rebecca Oliver, and Maria Kerr. UK bioethicist Sara Rosenthal also will speak at the event. The panelists will discuss a variety of bioethics topics. Any suggestions for topics will be greatly appreciated.

"The ENID Collective of Women Sculptors" Exhibition

12:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
Location: Morlan Gallery

This sculpture exhibition running through Mar.28, is the work of a Louisville, Kentucky-based collective of female artists of various ages and education levels, known as ENID. The name is taken from that of the first recognized female sculptor from Louisville, Enid Yandell. Yandell (1869- 1934) successfully competed against male artists of her period, winning many important commissions. Note: This exhibition is open by appointment only the week of Mar. 10.
