“I most enjoy interacting with students and helping them experience the joy of music-making and understand the context in which the music was first composed and performed.”
Piano accompanist Erica Rumbley calls herself an expert in bringing music to life. “I strive to make music come alive for students, whether in the classroom or at the keyboard,” Rumbley says. Currently pursuing her Ph.D. in musicology at the University of Kentucky, Rumbley’s ability to bring music to life is a natural result of her steadfast commitment to studying music.
Rumbley believes a liberal arts education is an asset to musicians. “A broad educational background enables musicians to understand the context of the music they are performing. Knowledge of various fields and subjects can also help students interact more effectively with listeners.”
Aside from music, Rumbley enjoys being outdoors and participating in community outreach programs.
